行为理论(aetion theory)就管理心理学而言，即领导行为理论的简称，泛指对领导者所采取的领导方式与领导作风，以及不同的领导方式与领导作风对组织成员的行为及组织绩效的影响进行研究，以寻求最佳领导行为的各种理论。这种研究旨在从领导者的行为方式入手来探索成功的领导模式，掌握有效领导者的行为规律，以便培养和训练优秀领导者。早在20世纪40年代初，心理学家勒温(L ewin，K，)首先对领导行为进行了心理研究，开创了行为理论的先河。相继有许多管理心理学家在调查研究中发现，领导者在领导过程中所采取的领导行为与其工作效率之间存在着密切的关系。许多研究机构为了寻求最佳的领导行为，提出了不同的行为理论。其中较为典型的领导行为研究，有1945年美国俄亥俄州大学“领导行为四分图’，的研究，1964年布莱克(Blake，R.)和莫顿(Mouton，5.)的“管理方格图”的研究，还有1961年美国密执安大学利克特(Likert，R.)关于四种行为类型的研究。由于领导行为是一个相当复杂的多变量函数，故领导行为理论的研究结果，不可能提出一个统一的、通用的模式或规律。对于领导行为问题，只能从不同的侧面进行分析，使行为理论的课题得到逐步深入。 (孙俊山撰张燮审)
