一九三○年，苏维埃全国开展农业集体化运动。达维多夫奉命来到顿河地区，组织那里的农民建立集体农庄。在与旧势力的反复斗争中，格列妙奇村的集体农庄终于冲破重重困难和阻碍，逐步得到了稳固和发展，使原本贫苦的农民在被开垦的处女地上建设起自己的新家园。
