中国西夏文字书。著者不详。约在12世纪成书。1909年在中国黑水城遗址(今内蒙古自治区额济纳旗境内)出土，现藏苏联。原书有平声、上声、杂类 3部分。出土为残刻本, 蝴蝶装 (见图)。上声部分全佚,平声、杂类有部分残缺, 余3000多字条。平声97韵，每韵中所属字以声母和介音的差别为序，同音字集为一组，各组间以小圆圈相隔，无同音字的为独字。据西夏文字书《文海宝韵》和《五音切韵》知上声有86韵。杂类则是平、上两部分的补篇,其中又分平、上两类, 每类内以声母九品音分部。每一字条的注释分3部分，第1部分以4个字分析字形构造,多采用合成法;第 2部分以较多的字解释字义,方式有解说字义、组成词组、同义词和反义词相注、指明类属和用途等;第3部分以反切法注音,同音字组中反切上下字标在第1个字下面。《文海》是研究西夏语言、文字和社会历史的重要文献。
