| 汽车拉力赛 rally 在1个国家内举行或者跨越国境举行的多日的、分段的长途汽车比赛。比赛的路面既有平坦的柏油公路，也有荒山野岭的崎岖山路。比赛时，路线上不断绝其他车辆通行，限定参赛汽车每天行驶的路程及到达时间。路线上设检查站检查是否在规定时间内通过，这是一种既检验车辆性能和质量，又考验驾驶员技术的比赛。参赛汽车须是批量生产的小轿车或经过改装的车。短的拉力赛需要几天，长者可持续几十天。拉力赛将出发地到终止地之间的路程分成若干个行驶路段和赛段，并在沿途设有给养站和休息站。在行驶路段行驶时，参赛汽车受到一定的时速限制，并须按规定时间抵达各路段的终点，既不能提前也不能拖后，行驶中要遵守当地的交通规则，违反规则者将被扣分。在赛段中，赛车可以全速行驶，有时车速高达每小时 200千米以上。 在整个拉力赛结束时，以跑完全程累积时间最少和被扣分数最少的汽车和驾驶者为优胜。 首次正式的汽车拉力赛于1900年在英国举行，全程长1600余千米。路程最长的是1977年举行的从英国伦敦到澳大利亚悉尼的拉力赛，全程长31100多千米，共用46天。目前世界著名的汽车拉力赛有巴黎至达喀尔拉力赛、欧洲的蒙特卡洛拉力赛和东非萨法里拉力赛等。中国举行的第一次汽车拉力赛是1907年进行的北京至巴黎拉力赛，全程12000多千米。
