【五法──忏悔五法】
﹝出圆觉略疏钞﹞
忏，梵语具云忏摩，华言悔过。今云忏悔者，华梵兼称也。谓比丘有罪，须请大比丘为证，具此五法而行忏悔也。（梵语比丘，华言乞士。大比丘即上座也。）
［一、袒右肩］，谓行忏悔时，须着袈裟，当袒右肩，以便执侍作务使令也。
［二、右膝着地］，谓行忏悔时，当右膝着地，以显翘勤恳切之诚也。
［三、合掌］，谓行忏悔时，须合掌当胸，以表诚心之不乱也。
［四、礼足］，谓行忏悔时，当顶礼大比丘足，以见卑下至敬之礼也。
［五、说罪名］，谓行忏悔时，当说自身所犯罪名，或得僧残罪，或波逸提罪之类，对众发露，不得覆藏也。（僧残罪者，如人被斫，犹有咽喉，故名为残。若犯此罪僧，作法除故也。梵语波逸提，华言堕，谓死堕地狱也。）
