释法凝。会州人也。俗姓庞氏。初齐武帝梦游齐山。不知在何州县。散颁天下觅之。时会州父老奏称。去州城北七里。臣人山是旧号齐山。武帝遣于上立精舍。度僧给田业。凝以童子在先得度。专心持戒道德日新。月六年三斋供不断。但以坐禅为念。出禅则诵经。恒常入禅。百姓争往看。而不敢入。唯于窗中遥见。动经一月。出犹不食。大德名僧多往劝之。虽复进食渐渐微少。后年至七十。于佛像前置座而坐。初烧一指昼夜不动。火然及臂。诸人与弟子欲往扑灭。及有叫唤者。复有禁止不听者。臂然火焰弥炽。遂及身。七日七夜。时俗男女有号哭自捶者。又有顶礼赞叹者。至身尽唯一聚灰。众共理之。于上起塔。今唯有一精舍在。余皆摧灭。
