根据火箭的瞬时弹道参数推算出在该瞬间终止动力飞行后火箭的坠落地点并加以显示的过程。在火箭的动力飞行段中，由计算机根据光学跟踪测量系统、无线电跟踪测量系统和遥测系统测出的火箭瞬时弹道参数进行实时处理，计算出火箭在每一瞬间终止动力飞行后的坠落地点。用这种方法推算出的落点，称为预示落点。预示落点在显示屏幕上以数字或图像形式显示出来并随火箭动力飞行状态的变化而改变，是判断火箭实时飞行状态的主要依据之一。预示落点计算是把火箭视为一个质点，只考虑无动力飞行，建立求解的数学模型，计算出火箭坠落地点。计算方法有两种：①近似解析解法：把地球看成质量均匀的圆球，先不考虑空气阻力和其他摄动，得出被动段的解析解，再对各种摄动因素分别进行修正，算出火箭的落点；②数值法：考虑各种主要摄动因素的动力学方程，以数值计算法求出落点。第二种方法的精度高，但计算量较大，需要使用运算速度快和存贮信息量大的计算机。预示落点既可以通过各种显示装置以曲线或数字形式显示，也可以用打印机或电传机以数字形式输出。显示可以是发射点至落点的距离，也可以是落点的地理经度和纬度。
