祖庭

It is the birthplace of Tiantai sect and Northern Zen sect,and it has an indispensable relationship with Lu sect,Pure Land sect and Southern Zen sect,In Tang and Sui Dynasty,a lot of enlightened monks from different sects gathered together, hence it became one of the Buddhism centers in China.
它既是中国第一个佛教宗派天台宗的祖庭①之一,又是禅宗北宗的祖庭。

1.语出《礼记．檀弓上》:"小敛于户内，大敛于阼，殡于客位，祖于庭，葬于墓。"本谓祭奠于祖庙之中庭，后用"祖庭"犹言祖奠，谓送殡前举行的祭奠。 2.指佛教宗祖布教传法之处。 3.祖师。 4.祖屋，家族的旧居。 5.祖父。
