香港不牟利的推广电影文化的机构。1977年筹建，1978年1月正式成立。它的宗旨是:推广、研究电影艺术，培养电影电视人才。蔡继光为发起人,由罗卡、吴昊等10多人联合创办。曾拥有会员近2000人。香港电影文化中心的主要活动有3个方面:①举办专题电影放映活动。曾举办过 3次"中国电影回顾展"、"台北电影八一(年)"、"五十年代香港粤语片精选"、"奥斯卡得奖电影回顾展"、"电影史经典名作欣赏"、"日本电影回顾展"等；还与教育组织在学校举办过"暑期优良电影欣赏周"。②举办电影专业课程教学，如电影编剧、电影制作等课程。由香港著名电影工作者教授，学生人次达2400之多。③举办有关电影的研讨会。曾举办过"第一届普及文化研讨会"、"中国电影四十年研讨会"、"香港电影暴力问题研究会"、"青春电影面面观研讨会"等。此外，它每月还出版会员通讯《电影人》。
