“高”

On the base of comparative study on “gao”(高) ,“shang” (尚) and “shang”(上) ,the point is reached that “shang”(上) is inferior to “shang” (尚) since the former just indicates object above the horizon and tater it turns into a general reference so as to its initial meaning falls down to a tower position than “shang” (尚).
在古文中,“尚”、“上”相训,二者都是指事字,在“高”、“尚”、“上”三者比较中,“上”又是“尚”的亚状态,它仅仅指地平面上的物,后成为一种泛指,初义比“尚”又低了一个层面,但二者的确指性都是明了的,虽然高度不同,一在屋脊之上,一在地上,但上部的位置都是一致的,故而能互训。
