中国台湾电影女演员。祖籍山西，1953年生于台湾。1972年从影，先后在台湾、香港主演70多部影片。1976年以《碧云天》获第13届金马奖最佳女配角奖，1981年又以《我的爷爷》获第18届金马奖最佳女演员奖。1987年自己编导兼主演的影片《最爱》获第23届金马奖最佳女主角奖。她主演的主要影片还有《金玉良缘红楼梦》、《山中传奇》、 《茉莉花》、 《最佳拍档》、《上海之夜》等。1979年在香港与别人合作组建比高电影公司，请许鞍华导演、自己主演了《疯劫》，揭开了香港新浪潮电影的序幕。1982年又担任了新艺城影业有限公司台湾分公司的总监,拍摄了《台上台下》、《海滩的一天》、《搭错车》等名片，推动了台湾反映现实生活影片的趋势。同时,她还是一位歌星,灌录了《也许》、《童年》等唱片。
