性学术语。是重视家 庭、崇尚生育的中华民族特有的一种专为生育目的而设立的性禁忌。为使生育出来的后代身 体健康，古人提出节制性欲，为此规定丈夫、妻妾分室而居，男住外室，女住内室，双方衣 物、器具不能混放一处，夫妇也不能一起洗澡。只有男子年过70，女子年逾50，才可免除上 述忌讳。且规定许多日子是不可以性交的，如《素女经》：“日月晦朔，上下弦望，六丁六 丙日，破日月廿八日，月蚀大风，甚雨地动，雷电霹雳，大寒大暑，春秋冬夏节变之日，送 迎五日之中，不行阴阳。本命行年禁之重者，夏至后丙子丁丑，冬至后庚申辛酉，及新沐头 ，新远行，疲倦，大喜怒，皆不可合阴阳。至丈夫衰老之年，不可妄施精。”这些禁忌有的 是 古人依据长期观察而总结出来的优生措施，如酒醉、远行、疲倦、大喜怒不可性交。但也有 些是机械套用自然界气候变化，取类比象来说明禁忌的原因，是一种迷信。
