| 王舍城 Rājagriha 古印度摩揭陀首都。位于今印度北部比哈尔邦巴特那县境拉杰吉尔丘陵谷地中。有旧城与新城两处，相距仅数里。旧城故址在今拉杰尔村南，是摩揭陀故都。新城在谷地北部，为频毗娑罗王所建。阿阇世王时，为防阿槃底入侵，大力加强其防御工事。频毗娑罗与阿阇世王时，是王舍城极盛时期，为繁华的商业中心。后乌陀耶迁都华氏城，王舍城逐渐衰落。频毗娑罗王曾先后在旧城和新城接见释迦牟尼，今王舍城附近仍有不少有关释迦牟尼的古迹。旧城东北的查塔吉里山，是释迦经常居住和说法的地方；西北毗布罗山的卑钵罗石室是释迦饭后坐禅之处。谷中还有温泉，四周山上有耆那教庙宇，是佛教徒与耆那教徒的朝圣地。 |
