专业合作经济组织两个或两个以上从事某一类农产品生产的农户或农民，为了降低生产成本，节约交易费用，增强在市场中的竞争和适应能力，增加收入，按照合作社的基本原则而组建起来的一种合作组织。主要特点有:①不触动和影响家庭经营，不平调、不损害入社农户的利益和财产。②独立核算、自负盈亏、公平分配。③全体成员平等地享有权利和义务。④民主管理、账目公开。⑤自愿互利、入退自由。从合作内容与经营范围看，专业合作组织可分为:生产经营型和生产服务型。前者指在生产、流通领域直接进行生产经营活动的合作组织;后者指为进行农业生产的农户或企业提供产前、产中、产后服务的合作组织。从要素合作角度可分为劳动合作、技术合作、资金合作和生产资料合作等。专业合作分布在农村的农业、林业、牧业、副业、渔业、工业、商业、建筑业、运输业等各个行业。
