中国汉代在木板、木简等木质材料上的绘画。甘肃省河西走廊一带,因气候干燥,故地下保存汉代的木板画和木简画不易腐坏，现存实物数量颇多。居延地区出土的木简、木板和木桃符画,大部分为西汉时期所绘。1972年，居延出土的一根木简的两面上，分别绘着官吏和鞍马。1973年,在居延肩水金关出土的一件木板画上,绘着系马的大树和站立的吏士。1974年，居延破城子出土的一件残木板画上，还存留着用黑色和朱红色绘成的马车和四乘骑的下半部。破城子还出土了一块绘在 D形木板上的白虎图，虎有展起的双翼，线描劲细有力。居延汉代遗址还发现了一些绘着人面纹的木桃符，可能是用以辟邪的。用夸张的手法表现出猛厉的人面。居延地区的木简和木板画,多为当年在该地的驻守人员随意之作,画风不定型，显得简朴稚拙。
武威县磨咀子汉墓群出土的木板画，为东汉时期的作品。72号墓出土了一件绘着披发左衽的站立的少数民族人物图像的木板画。53号墓出土的木屋模型的前壁所绘为男仆饲狗；后壁绘女婢喂猪，图中的猪用迅疾连绵的几笔画成，笔法娴熟飞动。5号墓的木屋模型前壁上，以黑、红两色绘出站立的女主人和婢女。 5号墓还出土了一件在案面上绘着朱雀的木案，木案背面还绘着朱雀、鹤等图像。武威东汉木板画的图像作散列并置，线条以圆弧状为主，画风逐渐由不定型趋于定型。
