“石油之光”雕塑高大，醒目，目前已成为大庆市的标志建筑物。它位于萨尔图中七路、萨大路和卡尔加里路交会处。
主体有基座、塔身、塔徽。其座为高3.5米、直径8米的圆柱体，周围镶有2.1米的铸铜浮雕带。其上托起的塔身是由高30米，直径为半米多的钢管排列起来的三棱柱，上端每边各有一件直径为2.4米的铜质圆浮雕。环廊是6只飞翔的海燕，最大高度近5米，组成了奔腾的海浪。
雕塑包容了从地下到地上，从古到今的全部内涵，以现代立体构成的象征性手法表现人类征服自然磅礴气势和力度。
