The present article analyzes the preludial fortune drama and the formal performance of the"Tanghui" in the Ming and Qing dynasties and reveales that "Tanghui" shows characteristics of ceremonial drama,indicating the popular folk mentality of evilness-exorcising and fortune-impetrating.
