中国编辑出版家。本姓余，原名增涛。1914年10月19日生于江苏苏州,1981年4月11日在北京逝世。1932年到上海就读持志大学附中。后参加左翼文化运动。并开始在《晨报》副刊《每日电影》上写影评，靠撰稿为生。1938年初到武汉，和徐步编辑《新学识》杂志；同年10月到宜昌，和赵冬垠编辑通俗小报《救中国》。1939年1 月到重庆,进生活书店担任编辑,和艾寒松合编《读书月报》。1939年6月任新疆文化协会编审部副主任。1945年9月回到重庆,仍在生活书店任编辑。1946年初随总店回到上海，他负责编辑《读书与出版》杂志，还编图书。1949年 5月上海解放后，他调往北京三联书店总管理处，负责图书编辑部门。1951年初任三联书店副经理兼编审部主任。1951年 6月三联书店并入人民出版社后，任第三编辑室主任、总编室编审等职。由他经手或负责进行的重要工作有：编制重印旧书计划；编制哲学、社会科学12年翻译规划;设计《知识丛书》。1979年初,任《读书》杂志副主编,中国出版工作者协会理事。
