古代棋类游戏。源于汉代。相传汉武帝好蹴鞠,群臣谏劝,东方朔以弹棋进之,武帝便舍蹴鞠而尚弹棋;另一说西汉成帝时刘向仿蹴鞠形制而作。初用十二枚棋,每方六枚。两人对局时轮流以石箭弹对方棋子。魏时改用十六枚棋,唐代又增为二十四枚棋。宋代以后,因象棋盛行而渐趋衰落。
