补充资料：秦攻匈奴之战
秦始皇三十三年至三十四年(公元前214年—前213年)，秦始皇遣将军蒙恬率军北击匈奴的一次大规模进攻战。
战国时期，居住在中国北部的匈奴，已经进入奴隶制社会。占有今内蒙古、宁夏一带的广大草原地区。当时，中原各国忙于征战，无暇北顾，匈奴经常袭掠与其接壤的秦、赵、燕三国北部边地。秦始皇兼并六国后，为解除匈奴对秦的威胁，命蒙恬率30万大军北击匈奴。三十三年春，蒙恬统主力军从上郡(郡治肤施，今陕西榆林市南)北出长城攻其东；杨翁子率偏师由肖关(今宁夏固原东南)出长城攻其西。匈奴败逃。秦遂取河南地(今内蒙古乌加河以南及伊克昭盟地)。沿河置44县，移民垦守。因匈奴不断来攻，次年秋，秦始皇复命蒙恬军又北渡黄河，取高阙(今内蒙古狼山中部计兰山口)，攻占阳山(今内蒙古乌加河北的狼山、阴山)、北假(今乌加河以南夹山带河地区)。匈奴不敌，向北迁徙。为巩固河南地区，秦置九原郡(郡治九原，今内蒙古包头市西北)。为防匈奴南下，蒙恬奉命征发大量民工在燕、赵、秦长城基础上，修筑了西起临洮(今甘肃岷县)，东到辽东的万里长城，对巩固秦北部边地发挥了重要作用。
