中国研究国际关系史的群众性学术团体。1980年成立,会址设在北京外交学院,现有会员近 600人。领导机构为会员代表大会选举产生的理事会。现任第 3届理事会产生于1985年。聘请宦乡为名誉理事长，选举南京大学王绳祖教授任理事长，另有副理事长、秘书长、理事若干人。研究会下设北京、上海、东北、中南、西北、西南、广州等分会。研究会的宗旨是在马克思主义指导下、贯彻百花齐放、百家争鸣方针，推动近现代国际关系史研究、开展学术活动，交流科研成果。具体任务是：组织各种类型的学术讨论会；学术情报交流会；组织科研项目的协作；编译国际关系史资料等。
研究会成立以来,召开了3届年会及学术讨论会。就马克思主义关于国际关系的基本理论、均势政策在近代国际关系史上的作用,绥靖政策的实质、世界反法西斯战争、当代国际关系、中国在国际关系中的地位等问题进行了讨论。研究会的出版物有《国际关系史论文集》(已出2集)、《国际关系史研究会通讯》(已出14期)、《国际关系史联合图书目录》2册。研究会编辑的《国际风云丛书》目前正在陆续出版。
