文学创作中的两种手法。比是比喻,兴为寄托。比、兴两法在我国诗歌创作中源远流长,从《诗经》起就已开始运用。儒家诗论把比兴列为风、赋、比、兴、雅、颂“六义”的两种。郑玄说:“比”是“见今之失,不敢斥言,取比类以言之”。“兴”是见今美,嫌于媚谀.取善事以喻劝之”(见《周礼·春官宗伯·大师》注)。把比兴与美刺联系起来加以解释。比兴之法多用在旧体诗词和民歌中,一般文学作品中极少运用或不用。
“比”与“兴”是我国古代诗歌常用的技巧。除诗歌外,现代散文、小说等也常用比兴手法。所谓“比”,按照朱熹的解释是“以彼物比此物也”,其实就是比喻。它通过具形具色的事物比所要写的事物,使之形象、生动、具体。所谓“兴”,即“先言他物以引起所咏之词也”。诗用形象思维,离不开比兴两法。因此,比与兴构成了诗的两种技巧。
