用激光再现全息干涉法拍摄的承受载荷的构件的全息图时，可重新形成构件受载前后的两个波阵面。由于这两个波阵面的干涉，获得一组包含着构件变形位移信息的干涉条纹（见图）。对这些干涉条纹进行定量分析，可得出受力构件的表面由于载荷作用而产生的整个位移场和应变场。这样，就能解决复杂情况下工程构件的强度和刚度问题。这种非接触式的测量方法，灵敏度很高（按激光波长的数量级计），并可得到任意位移矢量的三个坐标分量。
