大秦 中国汉代时西域古地名、国名。《后汉书》说,汉和帝永元九年(公元97),西域都护班超遣甘英西使大秦。甘英到了波斯湾口的条支, 误信安息西界船人言,说 “ 海水广大”,航路难行,故未向西进。安帝永宁元年 (120)掸国王遣使来献幻人(魔术师),自言海西人,“海西即大秦也,掸国西南通大秦”。桓帝延熹九年(166)大秦王安敦( 即罗马皇帝)遣使自日南徼外来贡献。古大秦相当于何地,学界大致有三种说法:一谓指罗马帝国东部,一谓指罗马帝国, 一谓指黎轩即亚历山大城 。大秦与中国海陆直接间接交往,在汉代亘300余年。 |
