海上保险法有关办理海上保险的原则以及调查海上保险各方之间关系的法律。海上保险法的制定目的在于调节保险人与被保险人双方在海上保险中的权利、义务关系，使海上保险的发展有了准绳1435年在西班牙巴塞罗那颁布了最早的海仁保险法令，开始逐步形成完整的成文法。有些国家将海上保险法编入海商法之中，目前世界上具有一定权威性的海上保险独立法律是英国1906年颁布的海上保险法，其原则为世界上许多国家所采纳。
