文化调整的方式之一。指两种比较接近的文化体系接触后，原来的文化体系随之消失或改变其形貌，从而产生出一种新的文化体系的过程。文化融合的一般过程为：①接触。两种文化由传播而发生接触，这是文化融合的前提。②撞击和筛选。每种文化都具有顽强地表现自己和排斥他种文化的特性，两种文化接触后必然发生撞击。在撞击过程中进行社会选择，即选优汰劣。③整合。以原来的两个文化体系中选取的文化元素，经过调适整合融为一体，形成一种新的文化体系，如现代美国文化就是多种文化融合的结果。
