| 铅球 shot put 田径运动投掷项目。14世纪中叶欧洲炮兵用相当于炮弹重量的石头做掷远比赛，后逐渐形成为一项运动。人们将石头改为金属球并沿用16磅（相当于7.257千克）炮弹的重量作为男子铅球的重量。1896年第一届奥林匹克运动会上铅球列为男子比赛项目。从1948年第十四届奥运会开始，又增加了女子铅球比赛。铅球呈圆球形，表面光滑，用硬于铜的铁、钢或其他金属做外壳，内部灌铅或其他金属制成。比赛用的男子铅球直径为11～13厘米，重7.26千克；女子铅球直径为9.5～11厘米，重4千克。运动员须单手持铅球放在肩上锁骨窝处，站在前缘装有抵趾板 、直径为2.135米的圆圈内，通过滑步或旋转将球推出（不得将球移至肩下或肩后抛掷）。铅球必须落在规定的40度角的扇形落地区内。运动员要等铅球落地、身体稳定后，从圆圈的后半部走出，成绩方为有效。铅球成绩的丈量以厘米为计算单位，从铅球落地点近边取直线通过圆圈中心，量到圆圈内沿为准。铅球技术过去多采用原地推球、侧向滑步推球，后来发展为背向滑步推球、旋转推球等。其中背向滑步推球为大多数优秀运动员所采用。基本技术是由持球、预备姿势、滑步、最后用力、维持身体平衡5个动作阶段所组成。
