| 多边贸易 multilateral trade 三个或三个以上的国家，为求相互间的收支在整体上获得平衡，通过协议在多边结算的基础上所进行的贸易。又称多角贸易。其产生往往是由于两国间彼此供应的商品不对路或价格不相当 ， 以致进出口不能平衡 ，外汇收支发生困难，需要第三国或更 多的国家参加协议 ， 建立三国 或多国贸易，以使彼此间的进出口达到基本平衡。例如有甲、乙、丙三国，甲对乙出超1000万美元，乙对丙出超1000万美元，丙对甲出超1000万美元。从双边贸易角度看，任何一国都有1000万美元出超，也有1000万美元入超，但任何两国之间都不能保持贸易平衡。通过签订多边贸易协定，相互以其出超抵偿入超，则三国的贸易收支都能得到平衡（见表）。
如表中所示，在双边贸易情况下，每个国家同它的各个贸易伙伴单独地平衡它的进口和出口，由于受到外汇支付上的限制，双方贸易只能在较小数额的基础上进行，即双方贸易必须在愿意进口较少数额的那个国家的水平上进行。而在多边贸易情况下，由于每个国家都可以用对某些国家的出超支付对另一些国家的入超，所以各个国家的贸易总额都扩大了，但进出口仍然是平衡的。 多边贸易的广泛开展，要求货币的自由兑换以及取消税率和其他各种的限制。有时为了清算上的方便，几国达成协议，通过某一清算机构统一进行贸易和其他项目的清算，参加国之间的贸易差额和其他国际收支差额，可以相互冲销 ，这种形式实际上也属于多边贸易的性质。 |
