| 电子信函 electronic mail 一种建立在分组数据通信网基础上的非实时通信业务 。英文简称为E-mail。发信人通过与公用分组数据网相连的数据终端把要发送的信息输入计算机 。计算机具有口令验证、信息编辑与装配、地址及其他指令的解释与翻译，以及把信息派送分配给接收用户的存储区（称为接收用户的信箱）等功能。发信者可以把信息发给某个人 ，也可以发给若干人，但是要求系统确认信息的收存。当收信人接入系统并送入正确的口令时，系统就把广播的信息显示在屏幕上，同时还会提示是否有其他信息等待收信人阅读。收信人可以浏览发信人的姓名及其信息标题，也可以仔细阅读其中某些或全部信息，并可根据需要删除、转送、回答或作其他处理。除了这种文电式的电子信函之外，还有一种语音信函，它的概念与文电式电子信函类似，只是把文电换成了语音。电子信函为人们的信息交流带来了很大的便利，因而获得了极为迅速的发展。另外，有时也把传真称为图形信函。 |
