职业选择性别差异(sex difference inchoosing profession)在社会的各行各业中，存在着一些传统由男性从事并被认为适合于男性的职业，也存在着一些传统由女性从事并被认为适合于女性的职业。男性的职业偏重于体力和权力方面，像重体力劳动者、管理人员和党政官员等。女性的职业偏重于服务和辅助方面，像保育员、秘书和护士等。两性在选择职业时，般倾向于选择社会公认为适合于两性的工作，这形成了两性不同的职业选择模式。对这种职业选择的性别差异有两种不同的解释:一种解释是从两性生物性差异的角度看待问题，认为男女先天就具有体能和攻击性等方面的差趾，像男性体力优越、攻击性强，故适合于显示力量、富于竞争和掌握权力的职业;另一种解释是从两性的社会化的角度看待问题，认为男女在成为一名合格的社会成员的过程中，发展了为社会所接受的心理特性，像女性习得的是顺从、依赖、慈善、宽厚的特性，故适合于人际亲和、善于辅佐和讨人欢心的职业。随着现代社会的发展，两性职业选择的差异已大大缩小。 (茜冬嘉撰高玉样审)
