本文采用文献资料法、逻辑分析法、访谈法、个案分析法等研究方法，以海峡两岸体育交流的历史回顾为切入点，将海峡两岸高校竞技体育交流作为研究对象，分析了交流的重要性，根据现状，找出交流中存在的主要问题，并在此基础上进行可行性分析，提出交流的相关对策，即：在两岸体育交流中，应该以更宽容的心态来推动体育交流；改善体育软硬环境，提高对台吸引力；条件较成熟的高校可先行一步，探索对台交往的途径，积累经验；政府政策性引导竞技体育战略重点逐渐转移到高校；建立体育中介机构，顺畅两岸高校体育交流；充分认识闽台关系在两岸高校体育交流中的作用；充分发挥港澳地区在两岸高校体育交流中的作用；两岸体育学术、运动术语的统一。
