The main functions of the trothing custom of the Qiang and Tibetan nationalities are 1) in dealing with clashes between clans,tribes or countries;2) in military actions in coordination amid tribes;3)in reiterating or re-determining the subject-king relations;4) in decision making and dealing with interior affairs amongst the tribal confederate countries.
羌藏两族的盟誓习俗,其功能主要有以下几种:一是用于处理氏族间、部落间或国家间的矛盾;二是用于各部落间的协同举兵;三是用于再申君臣之间的关系;四是用于决策或处理部落联盟制国家内部的重大事项。
