避世运动(beat movement)
1950和60年代美国的社会和文学运动，盛行于旧金山、洛杉矶和纽约的一些艺术家团体中。他们表达了与传统的社会决裂，提倡个人解放，用提高感官觉醒和改变意识状态来阐释。避世诗人如弗林格蒂、金斯堡、柯尔索(george corso, 1930～2001)和斯奈德等，试图把诗从学院派追求词藻华丽中解放出来。他们创作的诗句往往混乱不堪，随意掺杂一些淫秽的词句，但有些却极富生命力和感染力。其他主要作家如凯鲁亚克和巴勒斯提倡一种无确定格式的、自发的、有时是幻觉般的诗文体，把作者当时的感受记载下来。避世运动到70年代左右已逐渐衰退，但其影响力仍持续了数十年。
