（术语）有二种：一曰如来禅。一曰祖师禅。如来禅者，经论所说，秦罗什初传之，至天台而极详悉。祖师禅者，经论之外，祖祖自心印心，魏达磨初传之。佛于灵山会上拈一枝莲华示四众，百万人天不能解其意，独摩诃迦叶破颜微笑而领佛旨。佛言我付汝以涅槃之妙心。是如来禅之宗源也。故称为佛心宗。常言禅法者，指此佛心宗之禅。
