| 中道 madhyamāpratipada 佛教术语，不偏不倚，不堕两边（极端）的主张或实践。中道被认为是佛教学说揭示的终极真理，尽管它在佛教发展各个时期，有不同的内在含义。原始佛教的创立人佛陀仅仅说中道是舍离二边见，既不溺于贪爱，亦不追求苦行。《转法轮经》说：舍此二边有取中道而得明得智得定得慧得正觉、泥洹。小乘佛教通常以循八正道为中道，即观悟十二因缘之理，弃舍常见（以世界为实有）、无见（以世界为虚无）的修持立场。大乘佛教各宗都主张的中道，说法虽有差异，但从方法论立场看是完全一致的。例如：中观派以八不正观（认为宇宙万法“不生亦不灭，不常亦不断，不一亦不异，不来亦不出”。）为中道；瑜伽行派则依三性说中道（遍计所执性情有理无；依他起性理有情无；圆成实性真空妙有)；中国天台宗则以圆融空假中三谛为中道。 |
