| 天台宗 中国佛教宗派。因创始人智住天台山弘教而得名。天台宗谱系可上溯至龙树初祖，北齐禅僧慧文为二祖；三祖慧思自北方南来 ，陈光大二年（568）入居南岳，主张定慧双开；四祖智嫄上承慧文“一心三观”、慧思于《法华经》所得体悟，确立教行并重，止观双修的原则。智一生著述甚富，多由弟子灌顶记录成书，有世称三大部的《法华玄义》、《法华文句》、《摩诃止观》。天台宗宗旨所据典籍有《妙法莲花经》，作指南的《大智度论》，作扶疏的《大般涅槃经》和作观法的《摩诃般若经》。天台宗智以其五时八教的判教体系调和不同佛教宗派的教行主张。天台教义的中心是智的止观学说。理论基础为以三谛实相分辨把握世界，以圆融三谛、一念三千说明世界的本体，以及修持者与世界的关系。具体修习，主张一心三观，能观方面是道种智、一切智、一切种智、一心中得，所观方面则是空假中圆融无碍。天台宗在灌顶以后无甚作为。九祖湛然号称中心，批驳法相、华严及禅诸家，提出“无情有性”说，将佛性推广到砖木瓦石之上。11世纪时，天台宗知礼撰《释难扶宗记》，驳同门晤恩以智《金光明经玄义》为伪作的说法，结果分出山家、山外两派。争论的教理围绕真心观还是妄心观，色法具否三千等。山家主张妄心观及色心共具三千，并斥责持相反见解的山外理近华严而不纯。山家在知礼之后传人不绝，影响较大。元、明以后，天台宗日渐衰微。但天台教义曾在9世纪随日僧最澄传至日本，11世纪又随来华僧人义天传入朝鲜。 |
