This article presents an analysis of the four widely accepted iconicity principles—quantity iconicity,sequencing iconicity,distance iconicity and markedness iconicity—under the framework of pragmatics,by employing politeness principle,conversational implicature theory,indirect speech act theory and relevance theory.
