Based on more comparable corpora, the present study verified some of the previous findings about the use of adverbial connectors by Chinese learners.

This article,starting from many English learners misunderstandings over the word “the”,clarifies specifically its uses before the comparative degree of the adjective in three different respects ,and then it indicates the fact that this word can be used not only as a definite article but as an adverrb(demostrative adverb or sand then conjunctive adverb).
