The artistic qualities of the narrative irony in contemporary Chinese fiction are clearly discernible from the following four perspectives: (1) the irony of bantering, which makes ironic significance through the similarity of the linguistic code on the surface level and the disparity of that code in the deep level between the bantering text and the matern.
