"小自考"是相对普通高教自考(俗称"大自考"或"社会自考")而言的,是社会上对从普通高教自考中衍生出来的几种学历认定形式的俗称;是对"两沟通","三沟通","学历文凭试点考试","短线专业考试","高校在校生自学考试"等形式的统称.
"两沟通"即电大与高教自考"沟通".其毕业证书加盖省自考委与省电大两章,并要注明"两沟通"字样.
"三沟通"即业大,函授与高教自考"沟通".其毕业证书加盖省自考委与主办学校两章,并要注明"三沟通"字样.
"高等教育学历文凭考试"是国家对尚不具备颁发学历文凭资格的民办高校学生组织的学历认定考试.其毕业证加盖省自考委与民办学校两章,并要注明"文凭考试"和民办学校名称.学历文凭考试,只限民办学校在校生,只限专科层次,学制三年,目前仍处在试点阶段.
"短线专业考试"即部门委托省自考委代其开考的针对本系统在职职工的学历认定考试.由委托部门组织集体报名,辅导,原则上也只限本系统职工参加;面向社会,一般每次考试收费较高.类似"职工大学"的变形.
"高校在校生自考"是对"各级各类高校专科及以上在校生(含函授生)"组织的学历认定考试.高校在校生自考,只在河北省2002年1月份开始试行.2003年4月28日《河北省教育厅,河北省自考委〈通知〉》(冀教办ߓ18号)明确指出:为进一步规范普通高校在校生自学考试,从下一次报名开始,暂停招收成人脱产生和自考脱产生,只允许招收普通高校在校生".
此外,2003年3月31日教育部办公厅文件(教考试厅ߓ1号)明令:"各地要对存在'不规范考试'(即所谓小考,补考,短线专业或'自学考试试点班'等)按有关规定进行专项治理."
