    道教教义。原为道家哲学概念。《老子》称“玄之又玄,众妙之门”。《老子》中的玄意为“冥默无有”,是对“道”和“无”的一种形容。道教沿袭了玄的概念,《抱朴子·内篇》将玄解释为“自然之始祖”、“万殊之大宗”,将玄视为宇宙万物的本原和超乎物质的精神实体。《老子想尔注》称“玄,天也,古之仙士,能守信微妙,与天相通”。唐初道士成玄英承袭魏人的重玄说,提出重玄之道,即所谓“玄之又玄”,用以既否定“有”,又否定“无”。
