[[厦门市第二外国语学校]]（原厦门市同安第二十八中学）于95年8月创办，98年8月升格为普通完中，2002年10月改名为厦门市第二外国语学校，2002年11月被确认为“福建省普通中学三级达标学校”，地处厦门市同安区祥平街道银湖西路。
学校占地71439.2m2，校舍面积16334m2，建有高中教学楼、初中教学楼、实验教学楼、综合办公楼、教辅用楼、师生宿舍、食堂、膳厅、300m煤渣跑道、足球场、篮球场、排球场、乒乓球训练场等。
学校现有教学班49个，学生2443人，其中初中23个班1167人，高中26个班1276人；教职工181人。
办学以来，在上级领导和社会各界的关心支持下，学校领导班子励精图治，带领导全体教职工团结一致，高举邓小平理论伟大旗帜，以“三个代表”的重要思想为指导，认真贯彻教育方针，努力改善办学条件，积极营造良好的校风、教风和学风，初步取得了良好的办学效益，至今已培养出了2142名初中毕业生和1218名高中毕业生，先后获得市级“1999-2000学年学校艺术教育先进单位”、“省一级档案管理单位”、“厦门市优秀家长学校”、同安区“1997-2001年度社会治安综合治理工作先进集体”、区级“文明学校”等十几项市、区级荣誉称号。
