1.匡补君王的缺失。 2.引申为弥补缺漏。 3.官名。唐武后垂拱元年始置，有左右之分。左补阙属门下省，右补阙属中书省，掌供奉讽谏。北宋时改为司谏。南宋及元明重又设置，均随设随罢。
