This article poses some converse opinion concerning the temporal discourse function of Zhèxià(这下) and Zhèhuí(这回),written by Li Zongjiang(李宗江).

As form/function composites, lexical phrases can be classified into four main categories with such pragmatic functions as conventional indirect speech act or macro/micro discourse functions.

The essay studies on the discourse function of“shenzhi”in conjunction and pragmatics with related discourse analysis theories, which based on the study of its syntax and semantics.

The numeral-noun constructions which mean small number have two types according to the textual function: construction of“yí+ noun”,which means indefinite,and the numeral-noun construction(its number exceeds one),which means anaphora.

In this essay, by analyzing "Shenme" according to spoken material, we conclude that "Shenme" is often used to express negation, doubt, unsureness or to be loaded with the correspondent textual functions ——substitution, change of the subject and the turning of a conversation——instead of the strongly interrogative message.

The interpretation of"suo" as"ruo" or "ke" in "the annotation of classical works and commentary" is sound in terms of syntactic function,but not so satisfactory in terms of textual function, so the paper holds the view that the word "suo" can be interpreted as demonstrative pronoun with generic reference.
