以辨别文书真伪为目的而对印章或印文所进行的同一认定。文书检验的重要内容之一。凡刻有机关、团体名称或个人姓名的公章或私章统称印章或图章。印章上的文字粘上印泥盖在文书上，称印文。一定的机关和个人，因某种专门用途,预盖一个印文留给有关的对方,供核对、验证用的，称为印鉴。在刑事或民事案件中，伪造印章、印文，常常是伪造证书、证券或契约遗嘱的手段之一。伪造印文的手法，有的是先刻制假图章，有的是在伪造文书上用各种方法直接伪造印文。印文是否伪造，一般通过对印文进行仔细勘验，即可发现。在比较复杂的情况下，应当向有关单位或个人索取真印文样本，以便与可疑印文进行比较检验。在侦查犯罪中，有时还需要显现模糊难辨的邮戳印文，以判明邮戳印文的时间、地点、邮局名称代号，为侦查破案提供线索。
