中国彩色故事片。长春电影制片厂1974年摄制。大庆油田和长春电影制片厂《创业》创作组集体编剧，张天民执笔。导演，于彦夫；摄影，王雷；主要演员，张连文、李仁堂、陈颖、刘国祥等。为了改变中国石油工业落后的状况，在北方草原上组织了石油大会战，石油工人周挺杉和他的钻井队参加了会战。在华程政委的领导下，以毛泽东同志的《矛盾论》、《实践论》的思想为指导，打破洋框框，艰苦创业，并与暗藏的破坏分子冯超及被"中国贫油论"束缚头脑的总地质师章易之进行了斗争，最后终于揭露了冯超的罪行，教育团结了章易之，拿下了大油田。影片生动地塑造了华程、周挺杉的银幕形像，再现了60年代初期中国工人阶级在共产党领导下自力更生、艰苦创业的战斗风貌，洋溢着高亢的革命英雄主义精神。影片上映时恰逢中国第 4届人民代表大会闭幕，周恩来总理再次重申了要在20世纪末实现四个现代化的宏伟规划。影片中华程、周挺杉的形像对号召中国人民实现"四化"有很大的鼓舞作用，受到全国群众的热烈欢迎。
