概 述
９ｍｍ警用手枪弹又称９ｍｍ ｕｌｔｒａ手枪弹或９×１８,ｍｍ警用手枪弹。由原联邦德国于２０世纪７０年代初期研制成功，并取代９ｍｍ短弹。
研制该弹的目的，主要是在结构简单的自由枪机式手枪上能完全可靠地发射威力较大的枪弹，供警方使用。该弹的初速和枪口动能虽然比帕拉贝鲁姆９ｍｍ枪弹低一些，但却高于勃朗宁９ｍｍ短弹和马卡洛夫９ｍｍ手枪弹。该弹现已被欧洲几个国家的警察部门采用。
该弹主要配用于瑞士的ｓｉｇ ｐ２３０式自动手枪以及德国的ｐｐ超级自动手枪、毛瑟和ｈｋ手枪。
除德国外，奥地利、意大利均生产该弹。
结构特点
９ｍｍ警用手枪弹的外形和结构原理很像前苏联的马卡洛夫９ｍｍ手枪弹，但两者的尺寸稍有不同。前者的全弹长２５．０ｍｍ，弹壳长１７．３ｍｍ；而后者的全弹长２４．８ｍｍ，弹壳长１８ｍｍ，所以这两种弹不能互换使用。
该弹弹头的顶部为卵形或平顶圆锥形，全被甲。弹壳呈筒形，用黄铜制成。底火为博克塞式。
因生产国家不同，故弹头的被甲材料、弹头质量和初速等有些差异。
