法国印刷商。 出生于巴黎。 1523年开始印刷书籍。1526年在法王法兰西斯一世支持下，设立R.艾斯蒂安印刷所，用希伯莱文、拉丁文、希腊文出版《圣经》。1527年出版的法文、拉丁文双解词典《拉丁词汇》是西欧活版印刷史上的珍品。1539年被任命为皇家印刷商，为法王印刷希伯莱文和拉丁文著作，还出版文法书和教科书。他虽有国王保护,但受索邦神院神学家排挤,被迫于1551年迁居日内瓦。1559年9月7日在日内瓦去世。印刷所由其子亨利(1531～1598)继承,印刷出版了许多希腊文、拉丁文古典著作。其后世五代从事印刷与出版,成为历史上著名的出版世家。
