位于栾川县城西北50公里的抱犊山上，周围都是百丈悬崖，南门壁立千仞；西门两峰对峙，当中仅隔一米多宽的狭谷；东门右侧有“断山壕”，属“一夫当关，万人莫开”的险要所在。山上有四季长流的泉水，有遮天蔽日的茂林，是豫西名寨之一。寨上有天然石洞名叫“过风雨”，洞内原塑有一位怀抱牛犊、白面无须的神像“抱犊真人”，所以人们又把这里叫作“抱犊宫”。抱犊寨东门以外，有一座山峰，峰上矗立着一座石笋，远远望去，酷似一名耄耋老者，当地人称之为“石老汉”。北门边悬崖上也有石柱，好似盘膝而坐的老妇，人称“石老婆”。传说二人是老君驾前守丹炉的童男童女，因私自婚配，偷吃仙丹，而被老君罚在此处看守山寨的。
