远距离致盲激光步枪
设在新墨西哥州的美国空军实验室专家研制成一种能“射击激光”的便携式非致命武器，它专门用来保护部队和威慑敌军。新型武器取名为“人员拒止与刺激反应激光”步枪（phrase）。
新型武器利用两种波长的激光，如同照明弹一样暂时使敌人“目眩失明”而无法看到光源，但不会造成永久性伤害。
美国空军实验室的研制者认为，同类武器一直存在两个缺点，在小距离上功率太强，而在远距离上又没有效果。但是他们研制的首批两种phrase激光步枪样品已在2005年9月完成，正在试验之中，预计2006年3月可研制出更先进的phrase激光步枪样品。
